Discovering the Southern Gem: Kfarchouba and Hebbarieh Adventure

Our journey this time leads us to the far south, on the shoulders of Jabal Mtollein, a majestic mountain range that graces the southern borders of Lebanon. This stunning region is framed by two exceptional villages: Kfarchouba, our initial destination, and Hebbarieh, our final stop.

Commencing our hike as a united group from the heart of Kfarchouba village, we'll ascend until we reach a vantage point. From here, we can behold the occupied hills of Kfarchouba, part of the Golan Heights, and a significant expanse of the Palestinian occupied territories.

Progressing further, we'll make our way to Jabal Mtollein, a mountain range that oversees the western reaches of the Bekaa Valley and the southern landscapes. After soaking in the breathtaking vistas, we'll split into two levels:

Level 3 – Participants will board a bus en route to Hebbarieh, where a historical Roman temple awaits exploration.

Level 5 – This group will continue along a descending path, passing by ancient oak trees, until they arrive at a locale known as "The Cave." This area derives its name from a Roman temple adorned with inscriptions on the rocks. We'll then journey onward, reaching the old town of Hebbarieh, characterized by its captivating traditional houses. A visit to a transformed old mosque, now a sanctuary for "Nabi Yehya," will follow.

Subsequently, we'll proceed to another Roman temple, where the easier level group will await us, leading an exploration inside.

Concluding our explorations, we'll make our way to Rachaya al Foukhar for a delectable homemade lunch thoughtfully prepared by the locals, offering a well-deserved respite.

WHAT TO GET: Light snacks that will boost up your energy such as dried fruits, water, cap, sunglasses and sunscreen. Wear comfortable shoes such as hiking shoes and always keep a windproof jacket in your backpack.

NB. Foreigners and people not carrying a Lebanese ID need to register at least 7 days in advance for the event, and provide us with a copy of their passport and pay +5$ . Lebanese people should carry their Lebanese ID.

SPECIAL RATES:

- Children with the age of 10 and younger will have a discount of 5$.

- Children/ Teenagers between the age of 11 and 18 will have a discount of 4$.

- University students will have a discount of 3$ provided that they present their university card.

- Groups with 5 to 9 persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a 2$ discount.

- Groups with 10 or more persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a 3$ discount.

PAYMENT TERMS:

- Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged half-price

- Reservations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged an extra 2$

(e.g. Cancelling or booking for a Sunday’s event on Saturday will be subject to the above terms)

ESSENTIAL ECOTOURISTIC RULES & REGULATIONS

- Smoking is strictly prohibited during the event

- Always follow the guide on the designated trail

- Do not go off road without notifying the guide

- Do not get close to a cliff especially when the guide in charge tells you not to do so

- Although accidents are covered by the insurance but they remain under the responsibility of the member

- Sometimes, due to reasons beyond our control, slight modifications to the program may occur. Ecotourism rules must be followed, otherwise personal accidents will not be accounted for by the insurance.

Randonnée à la Découverte de Kfarchouba et Hebbarieh : Joyau du Sud

Notre périple cette fois-ci nous mène à l'extrême sud, sur les épaules de la montagne Jabal Mtollein, une majestueuse chaîne de montagnes qui se dresse fièrement le long des frontières sud du Liban. Cette région spectaculaire est encadrée par deux villages exceptionnels : Kfarchouba, notre première destination, et Hebbarieh, notre dernière étape.

Notre randonnée commencera en groupe depuis le cœur du village de Kfarchouba, où nous nous élèverons jusqu'à atteindre un point d'observation. De là, nous pourrons contempler les collines occupées de Kfarchouba, une partie des hauteurs du Golan et une vaste portion des territoires palestiniens occupés.

Continuant notre progression, nous cheminerons jusqu'à Jabal Mtollein, une chaîne de montagnes qui domine la partie occidentale de la vallée de la Bekaa ainsi que le sud. Après avoir savouré les vues à couper le souffle, nous nous diviserons en deux niveaux :

Niveau 3 - Les participants prendront un bus en direction de Hebbarieh pour explorer un temple romain historique.

Niveau 5 - Ce groupe poursuivra son chemin sur un sentier en descente, passant à côté d'anciens chênes, jusqu'à arriver dans une région appelée "La Cave". Ce nom provient d'un temple romain orné d'inscriptions sur les rochers. Nous continuerons ensuite notre périple jusqu'à la vieille ville de Hebbarieh, où des maisons traditionnelles remarquables attendent. Nous rendrons également visite à une ancienne mosquée transformée en sanctuaire dédié à "Nabi Yehya".

Par la suite, nous nous dirigerons vers un autre temple romain, où le groupe de niveau plus facile nous attendra pour une visite à l'intérieur.

À la fin de nos explorations, nous mettrons le cap sur Rachaya al-Foukhar pour un déjeuner fait-maison des plus savoureux, préparé avec soin par les habitants locaux, offrant ainsi une pause bien méritée.

A EMPORTER:  Légers snacks tels que des fruits secs pour vous redonner de l’énergie. Un sac à dos avec eau, chapeau, lunettes de soleil et écran solaire. Vous porterez des chaussures de randonnée ou de bonnes chaussures de marche. Vous aurez toujours avec vous dans votre sac à dos, un coupe-vent.

NB: Les personnes étrangères ou ceux qui n’ont pas une carte d’identité libanaise devront s’enregistrer pour ce programme, au moins une semaine avant et nous fournir une copie de leur passeport et payer +5$. Les personnes libanaises doivent emporter leur carte d'identité libanaise.

TARIFS SPECIAUX: 

-  Enfants jusqu’à 10 ans profiteront d’un escompte de 5$.

-  Enfants et adolescents de 11 à 18 ans profiteront d’un escompte de 4$.

CONDITIONS DE PAIEMENT:

- Annulation de la réservation dans un délai de moins de 24 heures, la moitié du prix sera exigée.

ex: annulation ou réservation pour le programme du dimanche, le samedi, les conditions ci-dessus seront appliquées.

REGLES D’ECOTOURISME ESSENTIELLES ET REGLEMENT

- Interdiction de fumer durant l’événement.

- Toujours suivre le guide sur le chemin indiqué.

- Ne pas emprunter un chemin sans en avertir le guide.

- Ne pas s’approcher d’une falaise, particulièrement quand le guide dit de ne pas le faire.

- Bien que les accidents soient couverts par l’assurance, la responsabilité du membre est toujours engagée.

- Parfois, pour des raisons indépendantes de notre volonté de légères modifications pourront être apportées à notre programme.

- Les règles d’Ecotourisme doivent toujours être respectées. Dans le cas contraire, en cas d’accident, l’assurance ne pourrait pas vous prendre en charge.
