Frequently Asked Questions

1.                 Who are we?

Paragliding Jounieh has been flying tourists and locals over the Mediterranean for years. Our highly trained pilots will take you on an extraordinary ride to experience Lebanon like you have never before. They are all fully qualified and proficient in all aspects of safety and international flying standards and we take great pride in being recognized by both our peers and the community for our professionalism and competence. We will always guarantee our passengers’ safety regardless of age or health conditions. Our only pledge to you remains unbroken: we promise to take you on a spectacular journey and create memories you will never forget!

2.                 What is Tandem Paragliding?

Many view Paragliding as the simplest form of flying because in essence, it only requires the pilot and a glider. Basically, a person with a giant wing. Paragliding should not be confused with skydiving or parasailing as it does not consist of jumping off a mountain or a plane nor being pulled in the air by a boat. Paragliding consists of flying paragliders which are lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircrafts. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing, the glider. A paraglider is basically a non-motorized, foot-launched inflatable wing. Overall, the paraglider is easy to launch and easy to land and our pilots are experts in mountain launches such as the ones we do daily in Jounieh.

Tandem Paragliding is when a professional pilot takes a passenger on a flight. A tandem paraglider is especially designed to carry two people at once and not all Paragliding pilots are equipped or trained to fly tandem. The passenger does not need to have any previous experience or knowledge in flying as the pilot takes care of everything from takeoff to landing. Some daredevils can enjoy flying the glider once they reach a safe and proper flying status and only if the outside conditions are adequate. It is at the sole discretion of the pilot to assess the situation and decide whether it is safe for the passenger to take commands and for how long.

3.                 Are there any physical requirements?

There are no physical requirements per say, but the weight of the passenger is a factor to consider when deciding on a suitable time to fly. Adults should be able to walk a couple of few steps for takeoff and landing. Small children do not require any special physical condition however, their size and weight will be assessed, and the pilot will decide on a safe harness. Should the child be too small and not buckled properly, the flight will be cancelled. We are happy to fly anyone and people with special needs will also be welcomed provided their flying conditions are safe of course. It is best to speak with a pilot and discuss the specificities of each case individually.

4.                 Are there any restrictions?

There is a maximum weight restriction for Tandem Flights. Speak with your pilot to learn more about weight limits. Children of all ages are welcome provided we receive prior consent from their parents or legal guardian as well as an approval from the pilot in charge of the flight following his assessment of all factors including but not restricted to the size of the child. The pilot cannot be held responsible for information that was not presented by the passenger ahead of the flight so kindly make sure you disclose any health issues you are aware of or concern you may have such as but not restricted to previous injuries or surgeries or existing pains.

5.                 Do I need to bring any gear or equipment?

You do not need to bring any gear with you. Our staff will provide all the equipment including but not restricted to, all harnesses, a helmet, and even a Go Pro camera.  It is advisable to wear comfortable clothing and shoes of course and depending on the weather, you may want to bring your own sunglasses or jacket as well. Feel free to bring your own camera or phone if you would like to but regardless, our staff will provide you with everything you need on the takeoff site and depending on the package you select, we will offer you the option to purchase a video of the totality of your flight taken with our Go Pro camera. You will be able to collect that video on the landing site, immediately after the flight.

6.                 Are there any weather concerns to take into account?

It is mandatory that prior to any flight, a confirmation is corroborated by the pilot. Depending on the time of your flight, your pilot will speak with you and confirm that the weather conditions are safe for flying and that all the proper authorizations have been granted by the official authorities.

7.                 What are the risks of a Tandem Flight?

There are no major risks in Paragliding. It is loads of fun and extremely safe. Records of paragliding accidents in Lebanon are close to none to this day and records of accidents with Paragliding Jounieh are null. Our pilots are very keen on international safety standards and are proficient in risk assessments. They will not approve any flight unless all safety conditions have been met.

8.                 How do I schedule a flight?

To schedule a flight, kindly get in touch with our staff by phone, text or WhatsApp on +961.70.403100 or via our social media pages.

9.                 Can we organize group flights?

Definitely! Group flights can be arranged, and simultaneous flights can also be sorted depending on pilots availability.

10.            What is the price of a Tandem Flight and what is the cancellation policy?

The standard price for Tandem Flights is fixed for the entire Lebanese territory to 120 US Dollars per person, per flight and is inclusive of all gear and equipment.

You may purchase the video of your flight for an additional 30 US Dollars  and collect a copy of that video immediately after your flight, at the landing site.

Paragliding Jounieh reserves the right to cancel any flight due to unforeseeable and unavoidable reasons such as but not restricted to, bad weather conditions, in which case, all payments shall be reimbursed.

In case of cancellations by the passenger/customer, there will be no refund or rescheduling.

11.            Can I take Paragliding lessons?

Absolutely! Paragliding is for anyone and we encourage any enthusiast to try a Tandem Flight and then discuss with our staff the lessons package that suit their needs and requests.
