SUNDAY, July 5 - Trip to BEITEDDINE & CHOUF CEDAR RESERVE

  

Departure from Martyrs’ Square at 8am

 

Beiteddine:

Visit the magnificent Beiteddine palace, built at the beginning of the 19th century by Emir Bechir II, who reigned over Lebanon for more than 50 years. Forty-three kilometers from Beirut it’s a must-see palace with its arcades, galleries and rooms decorated by artists from Lebanon, Damascus and Italy, this building is a model of eastern architecture. Today the palace is a museum of feudal weapons, costumes and jewelry as well as an archeological museum and a museum of Byzantine mosaics.

Deir el Kamar:

Discover Deir el Kamar, a typical village with its historical center, souk (market) museum, mosque and churches, it was the capital of Mount Lebanon, located 35km away from Beirut.

Cedar Chouf reserve:

It is a nature reserve in the Chouf District of Lebanon, located on the slopes of Barouk mountain and has an area of 550km2, nearly 5.3% of the Lebanese territory. The reserve contains the Lebanon cedar forests of Barouk Maaser el Chouf and Ain Zhalta.

SUNDAY, July 12 - Trip to BAALBECK & CHATEAU KSARA

 

 

Departure from Martyrs’ Square at 10am

 

Discover the ancient city of Baalbek which is renowned for its extensive and well-preserved Roman ruins. See how the site is dominated by its magnificent temples dedicated to Jupiter, Bacchus and Venus which were constructed between the first and third centuries.

After brunch break at a traditional Lebanese restaurant, we continue with a visit to Chateau Chateau Ksara, a 19th century winery established by Jesuit priests and the oldest of its kind in Lebanon. Learn the secrets of winemaking as you visit its vineyards and cellars and then treat your taste buds to a sampling of world-famous dry wines.

SUNDAY July 19 - Trip to Jeita Grotto, Harissa Cable cars and Byblos

  

-          Departure from Martyrs’ Square at 9am

 

Along the way, you'll hear interesting facts about the area’s many points of interest, such as the Nahr El-Khab valley and the hilltop statue of Christ the King. Jeita Grotto, a finalist in the competition for the new seven wonders of the world, is an incredible cave system in the limestone rock of the Mount Lebanon mountain range, made up of two separate enormous caverns. Admire the thousands of stalactites and stalagmites and take a short boat trip on the lake that covers the floor of the lower cave.

Then, you will head for Harissa, where you can choose to take the cable car up to the impressive 8.5-metre statue of Our Lady of Lebanon. Climb to the base of the statue which towers high above the city to enjoy the stunning views over the coast and sea.

 

After enjoying a complimentary za’atar man'ouche, a traditional thyme-covered flatbread, it’s off to Byblos, a city with a history that stretches back at least seven thousand years! Here, you’ll visit the 12th-century Crusader Castle, which was once captured by Saladin himself. You’ll also have time to visit the old souk and the medieval churches that were built by the Crusaders and stop for a bite to eat in one of the many traditional restaurants.
