About

Written by Nibal Arakji and directed by Ali Ettihad, “Allah Yestor” is a social comedy about mixed marriages.

Georgette lives in Achrafieh, Sursock. She is a very religious woman who goes to the church every Sunday. She has four kids, Marie Christine, Marie Joelle, Marie Helene, and Jean Marie. She is dying to marry them. One day her daughter Marie Christine announces that she met the love of her life and wants to marry him. Georgette expects a Joseph or a Charbel, but it turns out to be a Hassan. Georgette is devastated that her daughter wants to marry a Muslim, and at the same time Em Hassan is also devastated that her son wants to marry a Christian girl.

In the meantime, her 3 other children will drive Georgette crazy with their chosen partners.

“Allah Yestor” tackles all the clichés that each has on the other, showing that the most important thing is that we are all Lebanese, irrespective of our religions, and this is what should matter.

“Allah Yestor” shows that respect, tolerance, principles, values, and an open mind are the keys if we want Lebanon to evolve in the right direction.
