Ain Zebde Hike - A Journey Through West Bekaa

 

Ain Zebde, one of Lebanon's most beautiful villages, is nestled at the foothills of the Barouk Mountains in West Bekaa. Surrounded by Kherbet Kanafar to the north and Saghbine to the south, it is known for its abundant water sources, which feed the Litani River, and the soothing sound of water throughout the hike.

 

The village is famous for its agricultural produce, including walnuts, apples, peaches, onions, and red potatoes. The elders often refer to it as "Beit al Halal" due to its fertility.

Ain Zebde’s traditional dish, "Kebbet Batata" (Potato Kebbe) stuffed with Kawarma and Labne, grilled over charcoal, is a must-try and will be part of our journey.

 

Hike Details:

• Level 5 (11 km) hike.
• Start from the village, passing through the Machrah area (main water source).
• Panoramic views of the Bekaa Valley from Zahle to Jabal al Sheikh (Hermon).
• Hike through Kherbet Kanafar’s vineyard, ancient oak trees, and down to a beautiful water source by an old mill.

 

We’ll finish with lunch at a local restaurant surrounded by springs and water sources. On the way back, we’ll pass an ancient oak tree in Kherbet Kanafar.

Randonnée à Ain Zebde – Un Voyage à Travers le West Bekaa

 

Ain Zebde, l’un des plus beaux villages du Liban, est niché au pied des montagnes du Barouk dans la vallée de la Bekaa. Entouré par Kherbet Kanafar au nord et Saghbine au sud, il est connu pour ses nombreuses sources d'eau qui alimentent le fleuve Litani, avec le doux bruit de l'eau qui accompagne toute la randonnée.

 

Le village est réputé pour ses produits agricoles, notamment les noix, les pommes, les pêches, les oignons et les pommes de terre rouges. Les anciens l’appellent souvent "Beit al Halal" en raison de sa fertilité.

 

Le plat traditionnel d’Ain Zebde, le Kebbet Batata (Kebbe de pomme de terre) farci de Kawarma et Labne, grillé au charbon, est un incontournable de notre voyage.

 

Détails de la randonnée : • Niveau 5 (11 km) de randonnée.
• Départ du village en passant par la zone de Machrah (principale source d’eau).
• Vues panoramiques sur la vallée de la Bekaa, de Zahle jusqu’au Jabal al Sheikh (Hermon).
• Randonnée à travers le vignoble de Kherbet Kanafar, des chênes millénaires et descente vers une magnifique source d’eau près d'un vieux moulin.

 

Nous terminerons par un déjeuner dans un restaurant local entouré de sources et de ruisseaux. Sur le chemin du retour, nous passerons près d’un chêne ancien à Kherbet Kanafar.
