Synopsis

العام 1949، أكمل جورج أورويل روايته الأخيرة والأهم «1984». يصوّر فيلم «أورويل: 2+2=5» الأشهر الأخيرة من حياة أورويل، وعمله الرؤيوي الذي يستكشف جذور المفاهيم المقلقة التي كشفها للعالم في تحفته الأدبية، وهي: الخطاب المزدوج، جريمة الفكر، اللغة الجديدة، وشبح الأخ الأكبر الحاضر بقوة… حقائق اجتماعية وسياسية لا تزال تُحدث صدى قويا إلى غاية اليوم.

أخرج السينمائي والمنتج راؤول بيك العديد من الأفلام البارزة، من بينها «الرجل قرب الشاطئ» و«لومومبا» اللذان عُرضا في مهرجان كان؛ و«أحيانا في أبريل» الذي شارك في مهرجان برلين؛ و«مولوك الاستوائية» و«جريمة قتل في باكوت» اللذان عُرضا في مهرجاني تورنتو وبرلين؛ و«الشاب كارل ماركس» الذي اختير للمشاركة في مهرجان برلين؛ و«إرنست كول: المفقود والموجود» الحائز على جائزة العين الذهبية في مهرجان كان. أما فيلمه الوثائقي المرشح لجائزة الأوسكار «أنا لستُ زنجيك» فقد فاز بجائزة بافتا، وجائزة سيزار، وجائزة الجمهور في مهرجاني تورنتو وبرلين، فيما نال فيلمه «أبيدوا كل هؤلاء المتوحشين» جائزة بيبودي. وقد حظي راؤول بيك بعدة جوائز شرفية عن مجمل مسيرته من هيومن رايتس ووتش، ومهرجان نيويورك للفيلم الوثائقي، ومهرجان هوت دوكس الدولي للفيلم الوثائقي بكندا. عُرض فيلمه الأخير «أورويل: 2+2=5» لأول مرة ضمن قسم «عروض كان الأولى» في مهرجان كان سنة 2025.

Film director and producer Raoul Peck directed “The Man by the Shore” and “Lumumba”, both of which were presented at the Festival de Cannes; “Sometimes in April”, which screened at the Berlin International Film Festival; “Moloch Tropical” and “Murder in Pacot”, which both played at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Berlinale; “The Young Karl Marx”, another Berlinale selection; and “Ernest Cole, Lost and Found”, which won the Œil d’or at Cannes. His Academy Award nominated documentary “I Am Not Your Negro” won a BAFTA, a César, and Audience Awards at TIFF and the Berlinale. “Exterminate All the Brutes” received a Peabody Award. Peck has received lifetime achievement honors from Human Rights Watch, DOC NYC, and the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival. “Orwell: 2+2=5” was presented as a Cannes Premiere.
