Synopsis

تعود صانعة الفيلم إلى مدينتها بيروت في زياراتٍ متقطّعة في السنوات الثلاث اللاحقة للانهيار الاقتصادي في لبنان، فتتأمّل كلّ مرّة سريان حياةٍ مشبعة بالأزمات. في نتفٍ متفرّقة من المشاهِد والتجارب واللقاءات العفوية، وفي كلام الأصدقاء والأهل وعابري السبيل، تشهدُ على "عاديّة" غريبة لحدثٍ غير عادي.

Following Lebanon’s 2019 economic collapse, the filmmaker tries to make sense of a life enmeshed in crisis. She witnesses, through fragments and unplanned encounters, how family, friends, strangers, and she herself have come to navigate the eerily mundane nature of this seismic event: the end of their world.

صباح جلّول صانعة أفلام وكاتبة وصحفية لبنانية. درست الأنثروبولوجيا واختصت في الممارسات الميديوية والتوثيقية. مهتمة بالممارسات البصرية والنصّية التي تقع عند تقاطعات السينما والفنون وعلوم الإنسان، وتحاول من خلالها فهم مقاوماتنا الداخلية لقهرٍ متعدد.

Sabah Jalloul is a Lebanese filmmaker and journalist. She studied visual anthropology, media and documentary practices. She explores visual and textual practices at the intersections of cinema, art, and anthropology, with a focus on understanding affective resistances to man-made crises.

تتشارك المخرجة دافينا ماريا والرسامة دومينيك جوبليه شغفًا بشاطئ أوستند. يمزج الفيلم، المكون من صور فوتوغرافية ورسومات توضيحية، بين ممارستيهما الفنيتين بأسلوب لطيف. يحتفي فيلم بالصداقة والذاكرة وبالطبيعة العابرة لللحظات المشتركة.

Filmmaker Davina Maria and illustrator Dominique Goblet share a fascination for the beach in Ostend. Made up of photographs and illustrations, the film subtly interweaves their respective artistic practices. With a delicate and melancholic tone, “Souvenirs d'une journée parfaite” celebrates friendship, memory and the fleeting nature of shared moments.

Director’s Bio

Davina Maria makes films the way one might approach a stranger who has already begun to feel familiar: carefully, and without hurry. Born in Beirut, she studied audiovisual arts and philosophy, then travelled across Europe pursuing an MA in Documentary Film Directing from DocNomads, making films in many cities along the way. Her cinema is made of people she meets and places she passes through: personal stories, small gestures, feelings and questions that carry within them something larger than themselves. 

Tenderness runs through her work as a filmmaking method, and as a quiet form of resistance. She works without a fixed plan, letting gesture and landscape lead her, driven by a need to keep these stories, to hold onto them, to make them accessible before they disappear. What emerges is intimate and poetic, personal and universal. 

Her films have travelled internationally, presented and awarded at renowned festivals such as Visions du Réel, Festival du Film sur l'Art, and Doclisboa.

Synopsis

بعد تحطّم طائرة أودى بحياة ابنة عمّها، تنطلق المخرجة في رحلة شخصية بحثاً عن مصالحة مع الفقد من خلال صور بصرية انطباعية تجسّد دورات الطبيعة، ويُعاد استحضار المأساة عبر الأم الثكلى، التي تأخذنا في مسار مراحل حزنها.

Following a plane crash that took the life of her cousin, the filmmaker undertakes a personal odyssey in search of closure. With impressionist visuals portraying nature’s cycles, the tragedy is revisited through the mourning mother who takes us through her stages of grief.
