About

Modern Times.
The Voice of Silence

France, 2025, 54 min, French and English with French subtitles.

In 1936, nearly a decade after the arrival of talking pictures, Charlie Chaplin released Modern Times, his last great silent feature film. At a time when sound was revolutionizing cinema and transforming the entire industry, sweeping aside the legends of the silent era, Chaplin resisted the pressure to conform, defending his artistic freedom and paying tribute to the pioneers who shaped cinema. In an America devastated by economic crisis, Chaplin took greater risks than ever before, creating a bold and deeply political work. With Modern Times, he delivered a landmark film that would forever change his own path — and leave an indelible mark on the history of cinema.
